Ronald Lanford, DVM

Dr. Ronald Lanford is the owner and operator of the Care Center Hospital for Animals. He is a Michigan State University graduate of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Lanford started his career in emergency medicine in 1985 and later moved into owning his own small animal practice in 1994. He and his lovely wife Dawn were originally from the Detroit area, but have since been long term residence of the Coldwater area. They are both very involved in the Branch County Community with group such as the Noon Rotary, Coldwater School Board and AABC, Animal Aid of Branch County.

Ashley Dawes, DVM

Dr. Ashley Dawes is a 2015 graduate of Purdue University's School of Veterinary Medicine. She received her Master's of Animal Science in 2011 and her Bachelor's of Science in 2010. Her special interests include small animal ophthalmology and dermatology. Dr. Dawes has had a strong interest in veterinary medicine starting at the age of four!


Dr. Dawes is originally from Northwest Indiana, but currently resides in Fremont, Indiana. She lives with her husband, daughter, and their three dogs; Riley, Felix, and Auggie. Felix and Auggie are two happy-go-lucky black Labrador Retrievers and Riley is a Maltipoo (Maltese Poodle mix). Dr. Dawes loves to spend her free time with her husband and daughter, boating, paddle boarding, swimming with their dogs, and kayaking with Riley. Claire, Lead Veterinary Technician

Claire joined the Care Center team in 2008. She really enjoys doing dental procedures on the pets that come into the clinic. Her favorite part of being a veterinary technician is that every day is different and you never know what may come your way. She has one dog of her own, Mossy, which is a beautiful 5 year old Rottweiler. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her niece, hunting, and going on roadtrips.

Jessica, Licensed Veterinary Technician

Jessica has been working at the Care Center since 2011. She has always had a strong passion for animal science and a passion for working with both large and small animals. She is a proud pet parent of two Jack Russell Terriers and two cats. She also raises beef cattle and works with horses. She and her husband have a strong interest in farming practices.

Marissa, Assistant Veterinary Technician

Marissa joined our team in 2016 as a PCA, then moved to grooming assistant. In January of 2018, she began working as an Assistant Veterinary Technician. Shes always had a strong passion for animals. She has worked with numerous orphaned animals throughout her life, to try and bring them back to health. Her favorite part of her job is seeing the health improvement of clients pets with each visit. It warms her heart to know she is making a difference. She has a 2 year old Aussie/Corgi mix and a cat, both of which are "spoiled little babies" per their owner. In her free time, Marissa enjoys relaxing with her pets, kayaking, spending time with family and riding horses.

Kaitlynn, Assistant Veterinary Technician

Kaitlynn started working on the team in 2012 as a PCA while in high school. She moved to Grooming Assistant a few years later and then in the summer of 2018 she became an Assistant Veterinary Technician. She has a zeal for helping and caring for animals and loves the fact that she never knows what a day at the Care Center will consist of. There is always something new to learn and see. She has a Black Lab named Monster and enjoys the outdoors, hunting, fishing, traveling and working out in her free time.

Lynette, Office Manager

Lynette joined the Care Center staff in the Spring of 2013. She has always had  a passion for  animals. Even though Lynette's positon is mainly office related, she certainly enjoys the little interaction she gets with pets coming into our facility.

Lynette is the mother of two beautiful daughters that occupy her time with sporting events. Her "furry family" consists of a German Shepherd/Golden Retriever mix and a longhaired calico cat.

Lynette enjoys watching her girls play sports, yard work, camping as well as other outdoor activities and spending time with family.

Michelle, Administrative Assistant

Michelle joined our team in 2017. Her favorite part of working at the Care Center is that, "every day is a new adventure and I look forward to the next". She loves building relationships with our clients and their pets. She also has a real passion for helping find homes for displaced pets. Michelle has lived in the Coldwater/Quincy area all her life. She lives with 3 furry kids (Baxter, Mya and her cat Milo), as well as, her husband and 3 human kids. She enjoys going to the beach, watching her girls play sports, boating and spending time with family and friends.

Kinsey, Grooming

Kinsey has been grooming since 2014. She graduated from the Michigan School of Canine Cosmetology and grooms both dogs and cats. She worked for the Care Center as a Pet Care Attendant prior to attending grooming school. Kinsey grew up in the Coldwater area and has two dogs of her own, Cooper and Loki.

Angie, Practice Manager

Angie has been working at the Care Center since January of 2013, after her family moved back to Coldwater from Kalamazoo. Her favorite part of working for the Care Center, is that every day is different and she is always learning. She has had a passion for animals since she was very young. Throughout her life she's had a wide variety of pets. Her hope is to pass her love of animals to her children. She is a mom of 2 young children, a Pitbull, a French Bulldog and 4 cat, which all live on a farm with alpaca, chickens and bees. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, going to the lake and reading.
